Summary
Traditional academic libraries are facing a paradigm shift as user show a
strong preference for digital access, evidenced by a dramatic decline in
physical visits at Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah from over 40,000 in 2019
to just 3,686 in 2021. To go beyond these physical limitations, the "Al-
Khawarizmi 360° Virtual Tour" was developed — pioneering immersive digital
library experience, the first of its kind in the Malaysian polytechnic system. This
WebGL-powered platform requires no plugins and provides seamless, 24/7
virtual access to library services, enhanced with interactive features like avatar
assistants to improve user engagement.
