This test measures the Flakiness Index and Elongation Index of aggregates (6.3 mm – 63 mm) to check their shape. Flaky particles are too thin, while elongated particles are too long. Too many of these can weaken the road pavement. As per JKR/SPJ/2008, limits are:
Flakiness Index ≤ 25%
Elongation Index ≤ 35%
